Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 21, 2026
The Transition Window ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit thetransitionwindow.com (the "Site"), how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described below.
1. Who we are
The Transition Window is an independent educational publication about life insurance, military transition, and family financial planning. It is operated by Lorenzo Marez, a licensed life insurance agent in the State of Texas (NPN 22230410). The Transition Window is not a government website and is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs or any federal agency.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide directly
- Newsletter signup — your email address, when you subscribe.
- Coverage review requests — name, contact details (email, phone), and information about your insurance situation that you choose to share through our request form, which is hosted by a third-party provider (Tally).
- Direct contact — any information you include if you email or call us directly.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data — pages visited, time on page, referring pages, browser and device type, and approximate location, collected through Google Analytics.
- Cookies and similar technologies — small files used to remember preferences and understand how visitors use the Site. See Section 5 below.
3. How we use your information
- To send the weekly newsletter to subscribers, and to allow you to unsubscribe at any time.
- To respond to coverage review requests and follow up about the information you asked for.
- To operate, maintain, and improve the Site and the content we publish.
- To understand aggregate traffic and readership trends.
- To comply with legal obligations and protect against fraud or misuse.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use the information you submit through a coverage review request for any purpose other than following up on that request, unless you tell us otherwise.
4. How we share information
We share information only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers — vendors who help us operate the Site, such as our hosting provider (Netlify), form provider (Tally), and analytics provider (Google Analytics). These providers process information on our behalf and are restricted from using it for other purposes.
- Insurance carriers, if you request a review — if you submit a coverage review request, information relevant to that request may be shared with the insurance carrier(s) or underwriting parties involved in evaluating your options, only as needed to respond to your request.
- Legal requirements — if required to comply with a law, regulation, subpoena, or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of The Transition Window, our readers, or others.
- Business transfers — if the Site or its assets are transferred as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale, in which case this policy would continue to apply to your information under the new ownership.
5. Cookies and analytics
The Site uses Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use our content. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect standard internet log and visitor behavior information in an anonymous form. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by adjusting your browser settings to block cookies. Blocking cookies may affect how parts of the Site function.
6. Communications and consent
If you submit the coverage review form or otherwise provide your phone number or email, you are consenting to be contacted by a licensed agent about the information you requested, including by phone, text message, or email. Message and data rates may apply. You may withdraw this consent at any time by replying "STOP" to text messages, unsubscribing from emails, or contacting us directly using the information in Section 9. Consent to be contacted is not a condition of purchasing any product.
7. Data retention
We retain the information described above for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy, respond to your requests, and comply with legal, accounting, or reporting obligations. You may request that we delete your information at any time, subject to Section 8.
8. Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe — every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe link.
- Access, correction, or deletion — you may request a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by contacting us at the email address below.
- California residents — depending on applicable law, you may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
- Do Not Track — the Site does not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals.
9. Children's privacy
The Site is not directed to individuals under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect the information we collect. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Third-party links
